What you need to know

The Coronation Generation Project was commissioned by the DCMS to creatively engage young people with the King’s Coronation across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island.

Face to face and online challenges were offered across the country with winning student posters displayed nationally in partnership with Clear Channel and exhibited in Belfast - and now in London.

Coronation Generation Poster Design Challenge (graphical text and project logos)

The poster designs reflect one or more key themes: Community, diversity, sustainability, and youth.

The work was produced for the Coronation weekend, which took place in May 2023. All the work is student created, using photography, copywriting, typography and graphic design.

We would like to thank the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for funding the Coronation Generation Poster Design Challenge, McCann London for generously donating the space to host this exhibition and Canon for their support with cameras and mentors. Their support has made this exhibition possible and has empowered talented students from across the UK to showcase their remarkable artwork.

As the organising charity behind this project, The Ideas Foundation is dedicated to nurturing a new creative class. This exhibition exemplifies our commitment to fostering creativity inside and outside the classroom, in this instance, providing a platform for young photographers, copywriters and designers to shine.

Each artwork in this exhibition represents the creative efforts of young people, many of whom have never held a camera before.
