Ideas Foundation in the Northwest
The Ideas Foundation has completed a two year pilot project in the Northwest of England in Liverpool, Manchester, Wigan, Cheshire and Warrington and Knowsely. The project partners were the Comino Foundation, Wigan EBP, McCann Erickson, CIDS, CRISP, Merseyside ACME, John Moores University and Aimhigher Northwest. The ‘Creativity Scholarship’ pilot projects trialled employer engagement and assessment for the Diploma for Creative & Media principal learning units. Projects were delivered in urban, suburban and rural areas to students with a range of abilities. Students using their project work to support a Double Award GCSE achieved 19 a*, 5a and 2b grades between them. A rise in their projected grades across all subjects was attributed to their participation in the Creativity Scholarship programme.
Due to the success of the Northwest pilot project we have been invited to continue the work. A new team is in place, funded by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, The Comino Foundation, and global advertising agencies McCann Erickson and WCRS.
Industry financial subsidies are available to schools and colleges for creative projects for learners aged 14-19. Please email deborah@ideasfoundation.org.uk for more information.
